Upon opening your mac and turning it on you will be greeted with a language selection page. Choose your language and click on the arrow in the bottom right.
The next page will ask you to select your *Country or Region*. Scroll down the list to the *United States* and select that one and then click on the continue button in the bottom right.
The next screen will be about accessability. Feel free to explore the options if you need accomadations. If not just click on *Not now* in the bottom right.
The next page will ask you to connect to a wifi network. Scroll down to CogoGuest and select that one. The password is 'seriesoftubes' with no quotes.
The next page will notify you that remote management is configured for your Mac.
Once it finishes loading click on the continue button in the bottom right.
A Cogo Labs login page will appear. Log into your cogologin account using the username and password supplied to you.
The next page will have you create a local computer account. Feel free to change your full name to whatever version of your name you like, ie Nick instead of Nicolas or Zac instead of Zachary. But please keep the Account name in the format of first letter of first name and then full last name with no spaces or caps. For example, Zac Beach would be zbeach. Set the password to be something you will remember, it is recommended to NOT be the same as the password supplied to you for your Cogo login.
Next select your time zone. You can slide the dot across the globe or select the closest city field and type. Once you are in the correct time zone for where you live click on the continue button in the bottom right.
The next page will allow you to set up touch ID on your laptop. It is up to you if you want to use this service. If so click on the continue and follow the instructions to place your finger on the scanner repeatedly. If not then click on the *Set up Touch ID later* option in the bottom left.
Next choose what theme you want. Another choice of personal preference and is possible to be changed later in the system preferences. Once you select the option you want click on the continue button in the bottom right.
It will then load up your Desktop and you are logged in! After a short period of time Kandji will appear and install some applications. Kandji is our MDM that we use at Cogo. Check out the Self-Service app sometime to see what apps Kandji can help you download! Try not to delay updates through Kandji or else you may get in a situation where it forces you to update at an inopportune time.
Once Kandji is finished it will pop up in the bar at the top and tell you that you will ned to restart your computer within the next 30 minutes. The restart takes very little time so be sure to save whatever you're doing and restart.
Upon logging back in after your restart it will tell you that you need to enable FileVault. This is a Cogo security setting used for all of our devices that encrypts the entire hard drive to help protect our data in case of theft or misplacement. Select Enable now and allow it to set that up. After that you will be fully logged in again and you are all ready to go!
